The Expansion of the Sartorius Stedim Biotech Campus facilities designed by Pieri Architects is under construction and is set to be complete by July 2018. The 320,000 SF Expansion is part of a 40-acre campus Master Plan that includes a 540-car employee surface parking area that uses open-grid paving, a 240,000SF FMT Operations Expansion, and an 80,000 SF FT Membrane and Casting manufacturing facility. The site landscaping plan will plant over 1,200 trees to mitigate the trees lost during construction. The buildings, systems, and site are designed to meet all LEED standards. For more information on the design of this project, you can access our page: Sartorius Stedim Campus Expansion
The sustainable design challenge for this project was to apply the strategies, standards, and metrics used to achieve a LEED Platinum certification for the adjacent Sartorius Stedim ECO facility completed in 2012 and designed by PIERI ARCHITECTS. The ECO building was the first biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility to achieve a LEED Platinum-certification. After Hurricane Maria, Our Team worked diligently to clean-up and re-establish a normal work-flow and routine under these difficult circumstances, each contributing to the recovery effort helping our communities, families, and friends. The PIERI ARCHITECTS Team partnered with the AIA Puerto Rico Chapter to assist the Puerto Rico Department of Education in safety assessment evaluation to guarantee the safety occupancy of students in our schools. This was possible thanks to the AIA which conducted a Safety Assessment Program (SAP) training where five PIERI ARCHITECTS Team members participated and obtained a certification. I am very proud of our incredible team and their continuing efforts to speed Puerto Rico’s recovery during these challenging times.
A quick note to inform that thankfully the PIERI ARCHITECTS team and our families are safe and sound and that our San Juan office sustained minimal damages from Hurricane Maria. Our Team worked diligently to clean-up and re-establish a normal work-flow and routine under these difficult circumstances and now our firm is open for business. We are organizing and getting up to speed on our current projects, and re-establishing connections with you, our clients. I am truly grateful for the efforts of our incredible team for pitching in to get things going again.
